That’s a good question!

I would imagine it’s so Royal Mail have a little leeway in the time it takes to get there, as well as possible delays when it gets to Australia as they will also have tons of Christmas post to deal with too.

Don’t forget it’s this Friday (4th December) for Australia!

Hi Lee

What are the obvious reasons for such early airmail postage dates for Australia, etc.? Is it because a backlog builds up awaiting suitable flights to put the post on? I can’t really think of any other reason why it should be so long compared to the rest of the year!

Hi Lynn and thanks for your comment.

Last Posting Dates is ran by myself and I simply put up the dates as soon as I find them out, which is easier said than done…hence me setting up this site.

All of the international posting dates are being added today, but here’s some of the key dates again:

Australia, New Zealand etc = Friday 4th December
USA, Canada = Thursday 10th December

What with the recent postal strikes, I’d urge anyone with international cards, presents etc to post a little earlier to avoid delay.

What a way to run a business! I have a lot of family in Australia and it would cost me a fortune to send airmail every Christmas.
Why is it so difficult to publish surface mail dates in plenty of time?
Thankfully I learnt my lesson a long time ago and begin my cards and parcels as soon as the kids go back to school in September.
This year the PO staff had no idea when surface mail dates were and I assured them that if I didn’t get post to Oz off by the end of September, it would be too late.
It would appear many people have missed the boat! Literally!
