The last Christmas posting date for 2010, is Tuesday 21st December 2010 for 1st Class post.

Due to the adverse weather, Royal Mail cannot guarantee Christmas delivery for places such as Scotland and the North East.

Royal Mail are working through the backlog and mail is getting through, with a reported extra 7,000 staff working through all weathers to ensure Christmas delivery.

Royal Mail recommend always posting early and also ensuring your Christmas cards and parcels are addressed correctly.

Airmail to Eastern Europe generally takes around 5-7 working days and to the US and Canada approx 10 days, but can take longer due to Christmas and any weather disruptions.

Items posted to Australia and New Zealand by Airmail generally take around 10-14 days, although can take slightly longer due to Christmas and the adverse weather here in the UK.

Surface is a much cheaper alternative to Airmail, although the time it takes can be up between 6-8 weeks to get there which means posting early is a must. Obviously at Christmas this is even more important and here’s the last recommended posting dates as provided by Royal Mail:

Christmas 2010 Last Posting Dates

Royal Mail have now announced their last posting dates for delivery in time for Christmas. As ever, Christmas is the busiest time for Royal Mail and posting early is always recommended.

We’ll also have the last order dates for many of the online retailers to ensure you get your Christmas presents delivered in time.

Last Posting Dates for Christmas 2010

First Class: Tuesday 21st December

Second Class: Saturday 18th December

Special Delivery: Thursday 23rd December

Standard Parcels: Wednesday 15th December

Please note that Recorded as the same last posting date as the service that you choose, ie 1st or 2nd Class.

As of today, Tuesday April 6th, Royal Mail have increased their postage stamp prices.

The price of a first and second class stamp have risen by 2p, making a 1st class stamp now 41p and a 2nd class stamp now 32p.

Special delivery has also increased by 10p on items up to 100g and 500g, making them £5.05 and £5.50 respectively.

Alex Smith, spokesperson for the Royal Mail, defended the price increase and said “Stamp prices remain affordable and represent excellent value for money. Royal Mail continues to offer consumers a more extensive, to-the-door, six-days-a-week service than many European countries and does so at a lower price than most other operators.”

Last posting dates for Easter 2010

It’s Easter time and even the posties need a break and time to munch on their Easter eggs!

There will be no mail deliveries in England, Wales and NI on Good Friday, although Scotland will still get deliveries.

Normal Saturday deliveries will occur on Easter Saturday (3rd April) but there will be no deliveries throughout the UK on Easter Monday.

Royal Mail will be delivering and collecting mail over the Easter weekend as follows:

Good Friday – mail deliveries will be made as normal in Scotland. In England, Wales and Northern Ireland there will be no mail deliveries.
Saturday 3rd April – normal service throughout the UK
Easter Monday – no deliveries in the whole of the UK

Normal delivery services resume on Tuesday 6th April.
